Silver and Sage Photos

Subject and Storyteller

This was an exercise to reconnect with photography, a passion I’d put to rest for almost a decade. And as a little experiment in vulnerability. As a photographer, we spend so much time studying others.. Their emotion, their energy, their comfort zones. But turning the camera on yourself? You experience the awkwardness and become more compassionate towards your subjects. You start giving better direction, reassurance, and encouragement, because.. You get it.

This self portrait session was a quiet rebellion against the ordinary. A soft celebration of color, movement, and vibrant femininity.

For a moment I felt I had stepped into a dream I’d half forgotten; the pink tulle like spun sugar, a chill in the air, mature pines looming over… all called to mind Anastasia’s lullaby “Once Upon a December”.
